R/D Valve Springs started launched 1981 as a family-owned effort by Donn and Pat Rickard as well as Jim and Barbara Dour. This occurred after the demise of S & W Engineered Products. Donn began building race engines at the age of 16 after the purchase of his first Harley Davidson, and the advancement in motorcycle knowledge increased exponentially from there. Today, R/D Valve Springs use the best quality material, such as 6AL4V titanium AMS 4928Q, 4140 Cr Mo, Al Si Bronze, and 7075 T-6 aluminum are merely a few examples. The specs of each application are thoroughly tested and meet stringent performance criteria, which is why we have long relied upon R/D Valve Springs for many ATV and dirt bike applications.
